InterContinental Hotels Group

InterContinental

InterContinental - four or five star InterContinental hotels represent the highest levels of comfort and customer service, and offer many facilities including restaurants & bars, a concierge, room service, executive floors, fitness center, pool, and extensive meeting space. In Southwest USA, only Austin, San Francisco and Los Angeles have an InterContinental hotel, though a new resort is soon to open in Paradise Valley, AZ.


Crowne Plaza

Crowne Plaza - one of the main brands for business travel, Crowne Plaza hotels are built in many of America's main cities, and combine elegant surroundings with modern amenities, providing premium accommodation at mid range prices. They offer 24 hour business services, meeting space, a restaurant & bar, and a range of leisure facilities.

Holiday Inn

Holiday Inn - perhaps the most recognized hotel brand in the US, Holiday Inn hotels vary in size, age and facilities but most have a restaurant, lounge, room service, pool and fitness center. The three star hotels are found in cities and the larger towns, near freeways or airports, always with high standards of service, room facilities and cleanliness.


Holiday Inn Express

Holiday Inn Express - by far the most widespread InterContinental brand, and still expanding rapidly, Holiday Inn Express are mostly new, 3 or 4 storey properties though some have the older exterior corridor design. They offer relatively cheap but good quality lodging, with typical amenities of free continental breakfast, a pool and/or fitness center, and a microwave/refrigerator in each room. There are around 250 in the Southwest, in places ranging from city suburbs to small country towns.

Staybridge Suites

Staybridge Suites - this all-suite brand caters to upscale long stay guests - for business trips, leisure travel or relocations. Most hotels are new - built in the last few years - and contain 3 types of suite, all with a full kitchen. Other offerings are free deluxe continental breakfast, free evening reception, business services and guest laundry.


Candlewood Suites

Candlewood Suites - another fast expanding long stay brand, Candlewood Suites has over 150 properties in the US, all in large towns or cities, that offer similar facilities to Staybridge Suites at lower room rates. The studio or one-bedroom suites feature a full kitchen, a large work desk and free internet access; the hotel usually has a fitness center, guest laundry and 24 hour convenience store.


Best Western International Hotels

Best Western

Best Western - the largest hotel group in the world has around 400 properties in the Southwest, with good representation in all the large cities though the majority are in smaller places; in some of the more remote locations Best Western is often the only chain lodging in town. Hotels are individual in design and character, sometimes occupying historic buildings, but with several consistent amenities - usually free breakfast, a pool and an exercise facility. They range from large multi floor city center properties containing hundreds of rooms to single storey roadside motels accommodating only a few dozen guests. Many have a restaurant and lounge on site.


Choice Hotels International

Clarion

Clarion - the top brand from Choice Hotels offers full service amenities at reasonable prices. Most properties have a restaurant with room service, a pool, fitness center and event facilities. Locations are either in the main cities or popular resort destinations. The Clarion Collection features boutique or historic hotels that provide an even more memorable experience.


Comfort Inn

Comfort Inn - the most numerous Choice Hotels brand with over 2,000 worldwide locations and around 200 in the Southwest, Comfort Inn is a mid range chain that provides personal customer service and focuses on giving all guests a comfortable night's rest. All hotels serve free enhanced continental breakfast and have a pool and/or fitness center.

MainStay Suites

MainStay Suites - a full kitchen, large work desk, extra sofa bed and separate sleeping, relaxing & eating sections are the main features of MainStay Suites hotels, a good quality, mid range brand but one with limited exposure; there are only around half a dozen in the Southwest. Free continental breakfast is served.


Comfort Suites

Comfort Suites - the all suite version of a Comfort Inn has larger rooms with separate areas for work, sleep and relaxation, plus a sofa bad, microwave & refrigerator, though not a full kitchen. Free continental breakfast, a swimming pool and a fitness center are the usual amenities. They are found mostly in large towns or their suburbs, and all are 100% non-smoking.

Sleep Inn

Sleep Inn - this mid priced brand aims to provide consistent design and services across all properties, including an extra large work area, oversized shower, and deluxe free continental breakfast. Most hotels have a pool and/or fitness center, and are found in large towns or city suburbs.


Quality Inn

Quality Inn - offering similar facilities to Comfort Inn hotels but at slightly lower rates, Quality Inn properties are often quite small, with exterior corridor rooms on 2 floors facing the parking area, though some are larger and have added facilities like an on-site restaurant.

Rodeway Inn

Rodeway Inn - simple, affordable accommodation with special consideration for seniors is the theme of the Rodeway Inn brand. The inns are mostly town center properties, providing typical services of free continental breakfast and a free newspaper. They usually have the familiar two-floor, exterior corridor motel design.


Econo Lodge

Econo Lodge - these are budget hotels offering basic services and smaller rooms, but still with free continental breakfast; aimed at travelers on a limited budget. Econo Lodge properties are typically quite small, containing around 50 rooms. They are widespread across the Southwest, in locations ranging from large cities to small country towns.


Marriott Hotels & Resorts

Courtyard

Courtyard - the mid range Marriott brand is aimed mostly at business travelers, with facilities including meeting space and a business center, though the hotels have plenty to offer those on vacation. Courtyard properties are found in larger towns, and their other amenities are a restaurant, lounge, pool, exercise room, 24 hour access to food - and usually, a courtyard.


Fairfield Inn

Fairfield Inn - reliable, clean, quality accommodation at reasonable prices are the key elements of Fairfield Inn hotels. There are over 500 in the USA, predominantly in the larger towns. Other characteristics are above average sized rooms, free continental breakfast and a swimming pool.

Residence Inn

Residence Inn - serving long stay travelers who visit for five or more nights, Residence Inn properties are designed as a 'home away from home', and feature spacious, modern suites with a full kitchen, and separate areas for sleeping & living. The inns offer free breakfast, free evening reception, a pool, exercise facility and daily housekeeping.


TownePlace Suites

TownePlace Suites - the mid range long stay Marriott brand has suites in one-bedroom, two-bedroom and studio configurations, all with a fully-equipped kitchen. Most contain an extra pull-out sofa bed. Amenities include a 24 hour convenience store, free continental breakfast, swimming pool and exercise facility.

SpringHill Suites

SpringHill Suites - the most affordable of Marriott's all-suite hotels provide free continental breakfast, a business center, pool, exercise facility, and rooms that are 25% larger than average, containing microwave/refrigerator. They are built in the larger towns, usually adjacent to one or more hotels from different Marriott brands.
