Best Western Timber Cove Lodge occupies a large site right next to the shores of Lake Tahoe, on the north side of US 50 and close to the center of South Lake Tahoe resort. The 262 rooms are split over 4 separate blocks, most with mountain or lake views, and enclosing a central courtyard with outdoor pool & gardens. On the opposite side of the main road is the Bijou Golf Course, and just to the west is the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Area, which offers varied activities including ice skating, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball and basketball. The full service lodge has 2 restaurants, one by the hotel's pier, a bar/lounge, fitness center and local area shuttle. Boat rentals are available by the pier.

One block from the CA/NV border in the middle of South Lake Tahoe, Marriott's Timber Lodge has an ideal location, a short walk from the Stateline casinos, the shops of Heavenly Village, a sandy beach by the lake, and the Heavenly Gondola ski lift. The lodge is an upmarket, all suite property of 340 spacious rooms including separate 1, 2 or 3 bedroom villas catering for up to 10 guests. The beachfront is 1/4 mile to the north and the casinos are 1 mile away along US 50. The Quality Inn has a restaurant on-site (Taj Mahal), serving free continental breakfast, and it provides a complimentary local area shuttle.
