Holiday Inn Amarillo I-40 is a large, full service but reasonably priced hotel next to exit 71 (Ross St) of interstate 40, on the north side of the highway; it contains 248 rooms on 4 floors and including a cafe/lounge (decorated in an old Route 66 theme), fitness center, hot tub and indoor pool. Downtown Amarillo is 1 mile west, and all important sites within the city are within reach of the hotel's complimentary 10 mile radius local area shuttle. Event facilities comprise 9 meeting rooms (total 4,887 sq ft) and a business center.

Newly constructed (summer 2011) Holiday Inn Amarillo West is part of a developing commercial area of shops, restaurants and other hotels near Westgate Mall, next to I-40 right at the western edge of the city, and also close to Northwest Texas Healthcare. The 155 room, full service property has its own restaurant/bar, Flame, featuring Mexican cuisine and open all day for breakfast, lunch, dinner & room service. The large pool complex includes a sauna, whirlpool, waterslide and poolside bar; the other main leisure facility is a well equipped fitness center. The easternmost of three Holiday Inn Express hotels in Amarillo (6.5 miles from downtown) opened early 2008 in a rural setting alongside I-40 close to the international airport. The property is a typically clean, comfortable hotel with 69 oversized rooms & suites, furnished with stylish accessories like granite work surfaces and flat screen TVs. Free hot breakfast is served and there are plenty of restaurants within a mile, either along the interstate or up Lakeside Drive leading to the airport. The latest Holiday Inn Express in Amarillo is a 70 room/suite property that opened December 2008 in the countryside adjacent to I-27 (exit 116; W Hollywood Rd) right at the south edge of town, and so one of the closest hotels to the famous Palo Duro Canyon State Park, entrance to which is just 21 miles southeast. Opened in 2006, the well reviewed Holiday Inn Express hotel in Amarillo (the most central of the three similar properties in town) is located just off I-40 at 2806 Wolfin Av, which is a block south of exit 68A (S Georgia St). The hotel is at 1610 S Coulter Street, 2 blocks north of US 60 (Amarillo Blvd, former Route 66), and a further 2 blocks north of exit 65 of I-40. The Best Western Santa Fe lies along the main eastern approach to Amarillo, interstate 40 - a short distance west along the southern frontage road, starting at exit 73 (S Eastern St). A new Marriott hotel opened spring 2012 on the east side of town, one of relatively few places serving the international airport; the Fairfield Inn is built beside I-40 at the Airport Blvd exit, 2 miles from the terminal buildings and 6 miles from the city center. The surroundings are largely rural, with facilities nearby limited to several restaurants and a travel center, but the hotel offers all the amenities necessary for a pleasant stay, including free breakfast, a fitness center & pool, business center & free wi-fi, and luxurious bedding in all the 78 rooms & suites.

The newly built Comfort Suites hotel at 6318 Ventura Drive accommodates visitors to Amarillo in 70 large, clean rooms, each containing microwave, refrigerator and flat screen TV. The hotel has a southerly location in Amarillo, just east of I-27 (the Hollywood Rd exit), in a quiet, rural setting. Amarillo's Comfort Inn & Suites is one of the first hotels for travelers arriving from the west along I-40, being right on the edge of town, just north of exit 64 along Soncy Road, and just south of former Route 66 (W Amarillo Blvd). The hotel is built as 4 blocks around a central garden & outdoor pool; it is within a mile of Westgate Mall and 5 miles from Amarillo's famous Cadillac Ranch, located in a field between I-40 exits 60 & 62.

The budget priced Sleep Inn Amarillo provides airport travelers with 55 comfortable, clean, modern rooms plus amenities of an indoor pool, hot tub and free continental breakfast. The place is fairly quiet despite being right next to interstate 40, part of a business district 7 miles from the airport (no free shuttle available) and 3 miles from downtown Amarillo. There is one restaurant right next door.
