One of the top hotels in Bakersfield, the full service Marriott at 801 Truxtun Avenue is a large, 9 storey building with 259 rooms & suites, connected to the Bakersfield Convention Center (Rabobank Arena). Upscale features include a beautiful glass-roofed atrium lobby, the Nines Restaurant (room service & private dining available), a lounge/cafe, a fully equipped fitness center, a gift shop and an extra large outdoor pool. Meetings and conferences are well catered by 8 rooms and over 14,000 sq ft of event space. The hotel is located about half a mile north of downtown Bakersfield, within easy reach of highways 178, 99 and 204; it was formerly the Holiday Inn Select, being fully renovated late 2008.

Bakersfield's handsome new Holiday Inn is part of a recent area of development next to the Kern River along Marriott Dr, a short road with several other hotels - this is close to highways 58 and 99, towards the northwest edge of Bakersfield and a mile south of the town of Oildale. The 120 room hotel opened in July 2008. Amenities at the full service Holiday Inn include an outdoor pool, gift shop, modern fitness center, American-style restaurant and 1,700 sq ft of meeting space.

The Courtyard hotel in Bakersfield is part of the main lodging area in town, around the Rosedale Hwy junction of Route 99, and it has a quiet site on a side road (Marriott Drive) away from the highway, backing on to the Kern River. There is not much of interest in the immediate vicinity, this being close to the start of the desert on the west edge of town, though Buck Owens Crystal Palace is less than a mile away. The upmarket Clarion Bakersfield at 540 Rosedale Hwy is one of a group of hotels around the busy intersection of highways 99 & 178/58, a few miles northwest of the city center next to the Kern River. The 5 storey hotel occupies a large site with gardens, an outdoor pool/hot tub, sun deck and plenty of parking space; interior facilities include a restaurant, cocktail lounge, newsstand and business center. Other dining is available from 4 adjacent restaurants.

Holiday Inn Express Bakersfield has a southerly location near the suburbs of Wible Orchard and Venola - one block southeast of exit 21 (White Lane) of highway 99. This is quite a large hotel with 108 east or west-facing rooms on 4 floors, in a mostly residential district but close to various restaurants and shops along White Lane. For leisure, the Express has an outdoor pool at the rear, a whirlpool, putting green and baseball court. Complimentary continental breakfast is provided to all guests.

One of the larger hotels in Bakersfield, the Best Western Crystal Palace Inn & Suites has 195 rooms on 2 floors, occupying a tree-lined site near the northwest corner of town, adjacent to the junction of highways 178, 99 and 58. The location is 620 Buck Owens Blvd, next to Buck Owens Crystal Palace - a museum/restaurant/theater/concert venue, and within sight of the Kern River. Accommodation is in 4 blocks enclosing a well kept garden containing exotic plants and the hotel's Olympic sized swimming pool. The hotel has its own restaurant/lounge, serving American food all day until 10 pm, including free full breakfast.

The Best Western Heritage Inn serves travelers along interstate 5 - the 47 room hotel is right next to exit 253, the Stockdale Highway, which reaches Bakersfield 15 miles east. Nearby are a couple of restaurants and a gas station, but otherwise the hotel is surrounded by flat farmland of the Central Valley. Nearby sites of interest include the Kern River, Buena Vista Lake and the Tule Elk State Reserve. The hotel has an outdoor pool and serves free continental breakfast.

The inn is a quiet and relaxing place to stay despite being close to the busy intersection of Highway 99 with Buck Owens Blvd, 2 miles north of downtown Bakersfield. Other amenities include a restaurant/lounge, free continental breakfast, guest laundry, meetings facilities and an exercise room.

Five miles northwest of downtown Bakersfield, the Sleep Inn & Suites is next to a residential district at 6257 Knudsen Drive - the frontage road beside highway 99 (west side), just north of the Olive Drive exit. The inn is 3 miles from Kern County Airport and a similar distance from the popular Buck Owen's Crystal Palace entertainment center. Free continental breakfast is served and there are 6 restaurants within easy walking distance.

The 101 room Econo Lodge Bakersfield (5200 Olive Tree Court) provides comfortable but low price accommodation alongside Hwy 99 in a quiet, residential area on the north side of town, with a fair range of amenities including free continental breakfast, an outdoor pool, hot tub and games room. A good selection of restaurants can be found 0.3 miles south, along Olive Drive. The hotel is less than 3 miles from both Bakersfield Airport and Buck Owens' Crystal Palace.

The well reviewed Rodeway Inn & Suites of Bakersfield is about a mile west of downtown at 3400 Chester Lane, a block southwest of the junction of highway 99 with California Avenue. To the south is a residential area; north are several other hotels, a selection of restaurants and a number of large stores. Also nearby are Saunders Park, the Camelot Park family entertainment complex, and various other parks along the Kern River. The inn has an outdoor pool and serves free continental breakfast.

Recently acquired by the Rodeway Inn chain, this medium sized motel is a typical 2 storey, exterior corridor property accommodating guests in 53 clean, functional rooms, some containing refrigerator & microwave. Basic continental breakfast is served on the premises and are 2 fast food restaurants nearby (next to I-5 exit 253), though not much else of interest - the inn is aimed at travelers on the interstate rather than visitors to Bakersfield, center of which lies 15 miles east along the Stockdale Highway.
