The newly built Holiday Inn Express hotel in northwest Fresno is scheduled to open December 2009 at the Herndon Avenue exit of Hwy 99, replacing an older property of this brand a couple of miles south. The surroundings are semi-rural, with fields and scattered houses in most directions though there are several restaurants and gas stations beside the freeway. The main shopping center in the area (River Park) is 7 miles due east along Herndon Ave. The hotel is a beautiful, clean, modern, 4 storey building of 88 well equipped rooms & suites, a fitness center, pool, whirlpool and a meeting room. The Best Western Village Inn has a north central location in Fresno at 3110 N Blackstone Avenue (highway 41), part of a long corridor of shops and business in an otherwise residential district. Nearby sites of interest include the Manchester Center (stores, restaurants & movie theater) just one block north, Fresno City College and Lafayette Park. The hotel is bordered by a patch of undeveloped land and a small lake, though a short distance west are many shops & restaurants along Blackstone Avenue.
