Comanche Point, Grand Canyon
PreviousTanner Rapids - view from Comanche PointNext

The Colorado River in the southern section of Marble Canyon can be glimpsed from some distant viewpoints along Cape Final Road to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, but may only be reached from several difficult off-trail routes down canyons, generally requiring rappelling; there are no closer, relatively easily-reached overlooks until the vicinity of Desert View, on the South Rim. One lightly-used trail leaves Desert View to the northeast and reaches Comanche Point after 6.2 miles, overlooking a nine mile section of the river. The closest section, 1.5 miles away and 4,400 feet below, is Tanner Rapids, at the end of Tanner Canyon.
