Hite Overlook, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

There are several fine viewpoints of the Colorado River - or the upper end of Lake Powell - along Highway 95, perhaps the best being Hite Overlook, on the rim of a 500 foot cliff just opposite Hite Marina, which is currently closed due to low lake levels. In the past, most of the view was of the lake, but now the waters have receded several miles southwest to expose vast mudflats, becoming partially covered by vegetation. The overlook is reached by a short spur road, and could possibly be used for free primitive camping.
