Viewpoints of the Colorado River: Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area

The view from Horseshoe Bend Overlook is one of the most photographed in Arizona - below, the slow-moving, greenish blue waters of the Colorado River flow around a 270 degree bend, over 1,000 feet below the canyon rim, between towering red cliffs of Wingate sandstone. There are usually several dozen people at the overlook, which is reached by an easy half mile trail starting along US 89, five miles south of Page.
