West San Antonio Hotels

Towards the west edge of San Antonio, the Holiday Inn Seaworld/Lackland is 3 miles southeast of the popular Seaworld amusement park and just across the road from Lackland Air Force Base, the road being US 90; the inn is on the north side, at the junction with Old US 90 West. The hotel's 74 rooms & suites are arranged around an outdoor pool/spa with courtyard and tropical plants, and are complemented by a fitness center and on-site bar/restaurant. This part of San Antonio is mostly residential, and the land to the east is quite green and open - found here are the Gateway Hills Golf Course and several city parks.

New for 2009, the westernmost of several Holiday Inn hotels in San Antonio is a substantial 5 floor, 194 room/suite building at the Military Drive exit of Hwy 151, just 1.3 miles from the entrance to SeaWorld. Other sites nearby include Ingram Park Mall, Lackland AFB, Hill Country Golf Club and Northside Athletic Complex. The good range of leisure facilities comprises indoor & outdoor pools, a children's pool, hot tub and 24 hour fitness center, plus a full service grill/bar by the main pool. Inside, the main dining outlet is Sporting News Grill, serving breakfast, lunch & dinner accompanied by live events on the big screen TVs. Meetings and events are catered for by 3 rooms totaling 3,825 sq ft of space. The Holiday Inn is an LEED-approved eco friendly hotel.

Holiday Inn Express San Antonio West was built in 2005 just east of the 410 loop road (Ingram Rd exit), 12 miles from downtown San Antonio and 5 miles from SeaWorld. Closer attractions include Ingram Park Mall, half a mile north, Cathedral Rock Park, Westover Marketplace and the Southwest Research Institute. The 58 rooms and 26 suites have a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and mini bar, and all guests can enjoy the hotel's sun deck, outdoor pool and free continental breakfast.

The fifth Staybridge Suites hotel in San Antonio opened late 2009 and provides quality all-suite/extended stay accommodation to visitors to the west of the city, in particular to SeaWorld, entrance to which is just 0.2 miles away. The hotel enjoys quiet, wooded surroundings close to Loop 151 at the Westover Hills Blvd exit, and features free hot breakfast, free evening reception (Tue, Wed, Thu), 24 hour convenience store, pool, bbq grills, fitness center and business center. All suites have a full kitchen, plus an executive desk and DVD player.

Best Western Atrea Hotel opened summer 2009 in a quiet residential area close to the I-410/US 90 intersection near the southwest edge of San Antonio and right next to Lackland AFB. SeaWorld San Antonio is 7 miles north. The hotel offers above average service and amenities, and has a particularly elegant exterior; once inside guests have use of an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, cocktail lounge, convenience store, business center and meeting space. The 77 rooms (on 4 floors) have a cool, modern design, complete with features such as free internet access, a microwave, refrigerator and flat screen TV.

One of over ten Best Western hotels in San Antonio, the Ingram Park Inn is situated along loop 410 on the northwest side of the city, 0.5 miles south of Ingram Park Mall and 5 miles from SeaWorld. The 78 rooms are built as an open block enclosing a central courtyard with outdoor pool, hot tub & gardens, and have views either over other businesses alongside the highway or of undeveloped, wooded land to the west. There are as many as 25 restaurants within half a mile.

Open late 2009, the Best Western Palo Alto Inn is one of the few hotels in southwest San Antonio, built right at the edge of the countryside next to a gas station and restaurant at the Palo Alto exit of I-410, surrounded by farmland in most directions. Palo Alto College is within walking distance on the far side of the interstate, and the city center is 8 miles north. The 4 storey hotel has 75 modern, bright and comfortable rooms, all containing a microwave, refrigerator and coffee/tea maker; most have a sofa bed. Free full breakfast is served each morning. Leisure facilities are the usual pool (indoor), hot tub and fitness center.

Besides the nearby Westover Hills development, the new (summer 2009) Courtyard hotel in west San Antonio is also close to SeaWorld, the Hyatt resort championship golf course, and two shopping centers (Bandera Pointe, Ingram Park Mall). The hotel sits on wooded land adjacent to another Marriott property (Fairfield Inn), at the Wiseman Blvd exit of Hwy 151, and it provides upscale, full service facilities. Accommodation comprises 179 rooms & suites, all featuring an executive desk, free fast internet access, HD LCD TV, media pods and luxurious bedding. The Courtyard has three dining outlets serving food and drinks for any occasion; the Lobby Lounge, Bistro restaurant and Pool Bar (seasonal). Newly built Courtyard San Antonio SeaWorld/Lackland is part of a long line of shops and other hotels either side of I-410 towards the northwest edge of town, centered on the Ingram Park Mall. Lackland AFB is 5 miles south, and SeaWorld San Antonio 7 miles west. The 96 rooms are all very clean and modern, complemented by amenities of an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, guest laundry, a meeting room and a cafe serving freshly cooked breakfast.

The new Residence Inn hotel in west San Antonio has a peaceful location at the end of a quiet side road bordering a patch of woodland, yet is only one block from I-410 and a short walk from the huge Ingram Park Mall. SeaWorld San Antonio is 6.5 miles west. The hotel provides a wide range of facilities together with the excellent Marriott customer service; accommodation comprises 109 suites with several different configurations, all containing a full kitchen. Free full breakfast is prepared each morning, plus a free evening reception on weekdays. The many other amenities include an indoor pool, fitness center, sports court, convenience store, laundry and a meeting room.

Just 1.3 miles from the entrance to SeaWorld (linked by free shuttle), the Fairfield Inn Westover Hills is also well connected to other west San Antonio attractions by Highway 151 which runs past close by, though the immediate neighborhood is mostly undeveloped woodland. The three storey hotel has 69 rooms and 29 family suites; all spacious, modern and comfortable. Free enhanced breakfast is available, and for other meals there are a few restaurants half a mile south. Other guest amenities are free internet access, an outdoor pool, business center, convenience store and a fitness center.

The fourth SpringHill Suites hotel in San Antonio opens early 2010, built next to I-410 just north of Hwy 151 - near the southwest edge of the city and a short walk from the Westover MarketPlace mall. Apart from the many shops and restaurants at the mall most of the surroundings are rural, but with several important sites nearby including SeaWorld (4.2 miles) and Lackland Air Force Base (3.8 miles). The 120 room hotel provides comfortable accommodations and good customer service at affordable rates; its main amenities are free breakfast buffet, a pool, fitness center, laundry and free internet access. All rooms contain a small kitchen, with a microwave, refrigerator and sink.

The Comfort Inn near SeaWorld is a new hotel (open 2009), built at the intersection of Ingram Rd with Highway 151, in a undeveloped part of the western San Antonio suburbs, ten miles from the downtown area. The main entrance to SeaWorld of Texas is just 3 miles further up the highway. The hotel is an attractive four storey building of 77 well presented rooms that all contain a microwave, refrigerator, flat screen TV, and comfortable beds with pillow top mattresses. The usual three leisure facilities of pool (indoor), hot tub and fitness center are provided, and the inn also has a small shop, laundry and a business center. Free continental breakfast is served.

The Comfort Suites is a fairly new property opened in 2006, one of a group of hotels along the 410 loop road towards the northwest edge of San Antonio, though set back one block from the highway which makes for a more peaceful stay. The location is 8021 Alamo Downs Parkway, near exit 10 of the loop road, and 5 miles from Seaworld - an easy, 10 minute drive west. The hotel has 74 suites on 4 floors, and amenities such as a convenience store, fitness center, indoor pool/hot tub and free deluxe continental breakfast. There are four restaurants nearby.

The Sleep inn of western San Antonio was built 2008 next to another Choice Hotels establishment (Quality Inn), on farmland close to the intersection of I-410 with Highway 151 - a short walk from a large shopping center (Westover Marketplace) and plenty of restaurants. The handsome four floor building contains 72 rooms & suites (all with microwave/refrigerator), plus an indoor pool, exercise room and guest laundry. Continental breakfast and internet access are both provided free of charge. SeaWorld of Texas is a quick 4.5 mile drive west along Hwy 151.

This Quality Inn hotel is 3 miles east of San Antonio's SeaWorld, in a countryside setting just northwest of the important 410 - 151 junction on the west side of the city. Although mostly rural, the immediate neighborhood has several important centers including the Westover Marketplace a short walk south, and there are at least 5 restaurants around the highway junction. The hotel has an outdoor pool on the south side, and a microwave/refrigerator in every room. Free continental breakfast is provided.

Rodeway Inn Lackland AFB is one of the better of the many budget motels along US 90 on the west side of San Antonio, offering 40 ground floor rooms (some containing a microwave/refrigerator), free continental breakfast, and an outdoor pool. The surroundings are hilly and partly wooded, with a golf course and several city parks nearby, plus the Lackland Air Force Base just the other side of the highway. SeaWorld San Antonio is 8 miles northwest.
