The Marriott is a part of the Cibolo Canyons development - an upscale residential community in the hilly, wooded land 4 miles northeast of US 281/Loop 1604 intersection, on the north edge of San Antonio and 14 miles from the international airport. Many of the rooms overlook the beautiful, six acre garden area featuring various pools, water slides, fountains and even an artificial river with rapids. There are six dining outlets on site to cater for all tastes and occasions, plus an assortment of shops, business services and many other facilities.

In wooded, hilly land just east of US 281 near the Loop 1604 intersection, the handsome new Holiday Inn San Antonio North - Hill Country opened summer 2010, providing spacious and modern accommodation to this fast growing area of the city. Full service amenities include the American-style Kem's Restaurant (room service available), a lounge/bar, pool & fitness center, meeting space and 24 hour business center. The four storey hotel has 111 luxurious rooms & suites, most with good views over the semi-rural neighborhood.

The well reviewed Courtyard San Antonio North provides all necessary facilities for the business or leisure traveler. The handsome new hotel borders an area of woodland one block from the US 281 - Loop 1604 intersection near the north edge of the city, close to many shops and restaurants, and just 7 miles from the international airport. The Courtyard has 107 brightly decorated rooms & suites, an indoor pool, spa, fitness room, outdoor gazebo with fireplace, and a cafe serving cooked-to-order breakfast. Guests here to work can take advantage of free wi-fi, a 24 hour business center and a meeting room.

Close to the wooded hills on the north edge of town, the Residence Inn San Antonio Stone Oak sits at the edge of a shopping center beside the US 281-1604 freeway junction, 7 miles from the international airport. The extended stay hotel caters for guests in 88 suites that contain a full kitchen complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and stove; both full breakfast and evening reception are provided free, while self-catering guests can take advantage of the free grocery shopping service. For relaxation the usual three facilities of pool, hot tub and fitness center are available.

The northernmost of several Fairfield Inn hotels in San Antonio opened early 2009 alongside Loop 1604 just west of the US 281 junction - on the edge of a tree-lined residential neighborhood though close to several shopping centers and many businesses in the Stone Oak district. The Holiday Inn Express airport hotel is 5 miles north of San Antonio International Airport at 16315 US 281 N (San Pedro Ave), linked by complimentary shuttle. The hotel has a quiet location set back from the road (on the west side), adjacent to a wooded, residential district, though all along the highway are many other hotels, restaurants and shops. All 67 rooms & suites have a microwave, coffee maker & full refrigerator, while the other main amenities are an outdoor pool, sauna, gift shop and fitness center.

Open early 2010, Candlewood Suites San Antonio North is part of the developing Stone Oak/Encino Commons area, alongside US 281 some 20 miles north of the city center, surrounded by hilly, wooded land. There are many businesses nearby and several large stores including Wal-Mart. Accommodation at the four floor hotel comprises 113 comfortable, well equipped studio or one bed suites, all with a full kitchen; food for cooking can be bought from the on site, 24 hour Candlewood Cupboard convenience store. The hotel also has a free laundry service, an outdoor pool, hot tub, bbq grills, fitness center and business center.

The Staybridge Suites is a fall 2010 addition to the range of modern hotels in the Stone Oak/north San Antonio area, situated on the south side of the 1604 Loop just west of the US 285 intersection, 9 miles from the international airport. The 135 studio, one bed or two bed suites all have a full kitchen; food for cooking can be purchased from a Wal-Mart superstore one mile away on the opposite side of the freeway. Leisure facilities are a fitness center, outdoor pool, whirlpool, sports court and bbq grills, plus an outdoor play area for children, Free hot breakfast is served each morning, and a free reception is provided in the evenings.

Most of the 77 rooms in the Best Western Hill Country Suites have views over wooded, hilly land right on the north edge of San Antonio. The property is situated at the northwest corner of the busy intersection of US 281 with the TX 1604 northern loop road (next to a Wal-Mart), 15 miles due north of downtown San Antonio. Complimentary full breakfast is offered, and for other dining there are many restaurants within 0.2 miles.

The recently opened (2008) Comfort Suites in north San Antonio is part of a sizeable shopping complex next to the US 281/Loop 1604 intersection - a short walk from a HEB supermarket, a movie theater, many restaurants and other stores, yet is far enough from the highways to be unaffected by traffic noise. All 95 oversized rooms feature a microwave, refrigerator, wet bar, sofa bed, flat screen TV, work desk and coffee maker; everything is clean and modern, and the place is well managed. Continental breakfast and internet access are both free, and the hotel has the expected leisure facilities of a pool (outdoor, plus sundeck) and fitness center. Also available are a convenience store, guest laundry and meeting/banquet facilities.

The Northwoods Quality Inn is a well reviewed hotel towards the north edge of San Antonio at 1505 Bexar Crossing, just southwest of the junction of US 281 with the 1604 outer loop road. There are various restaurants and large stores around the junction, though most of this area is hilly, wooded, residential land. San Antonio airport is 6 miles south, and the downtown/riverwalk area is 14 miles away. The main services on offer are an outdoor pool, exercise room, free full breakfast and guest laundry.
