The small city of Marana
to the northwest, along I-10; the mostly residential center is 2 miles from the interstate close to the Santa Cruz River
, surrounded by irrigated farmland, though hotels are found several miles away beside the freeway, at exits 246 (Cortaro Road) and 248 (Ina Road), and provide a generally quieter, more easily-reached alternative than those in Tucson to the south. Cortaro Road is the main location, also site of a supermarket and plenty of restaurants.
Marana is the closest town both to Ironwood Forest National Monument
, the Silverbell entrance to which is 9 miles west, and also Saguaro National Park
- the boundary is just 10 miles south along Sandario Road. To the east, a similarly short drive reaches more fine Sonoran Desert scenery at Catalina State Park
