Tolleson is one of the smallest cities in the greater Phoenix region, occupying about 5 square miles mostly south of Interstate 10 near the Loop 101 junction. The central section is residential, and some land around the edges is used for agriculture, but most of the area is industrial, locations including Tolleson Commerce Center, Canal Industrial Park and several huge distribution centers, one for Fry's Supermarkets. The main commercial district is around the I-10/101 intersection, at the boundary between Phoenix and Avondale. Downtown Phoenix is an easy ten mile drive to the east. To the south, the land is partly developed for just a short distance, as far as the wide valley of the Salt River; beyond are two desert preserves, South Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Regional Park.

Courtyard Phoenix West/Avondale is built opposite a residential estate next to the I-10/Loop 101 junction, just off McDowell Rd and a mile from the center of Tolleson. There is not much in the immediate vicinity, but half a mile west is a cluster of shops and restaurants by the junction with 99th Ave, while the Westgate Center is 5 miles north. All the rooms and the many facilities of the hotel are clean, modern and well maintained, while the relatively distant location towards the west edge of Phoenix makes the room rates quite low. The Courtyard has an outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, meetings space, a cafe serving breakfast, and a lounge open for dinner & drinks.
Towards the east of Tolleson, also near the districts of Fowler and Santa Maria, the Best Western hotel is easily reached from I-10 exit 135; north to McDowell Road then west a short distance. Phoenix's Desert Sky Mall is one block to the northeast while the Phoenix International Raceway is 4 miles away. The hotel has an outdoor pool/hot tub, 24 hour fitness center, 24 hour business center & meeting space, and is situated in a rural/residential area. Free full breakfast is served each morning.

The hotel is situated in a residential neighborhood, just down the street from another Marriott property, the Courtyard - on the north side of Interstate 10 (at the 91st Street exit), one mile from the Loop 101 intersection. There are three desert preserves within a half hour drive - South Mountain, White Tank Mountain and Estrella Mountain.
