Central Phoenix Hotels

The luxurious Arizona Biltmore Resort owes its fame in part to the beautiful architecture, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1920s. The upscale, full service property occupies a 39 acre site in a peaceful neighborhood at the foot of Squaw Peak and the Phoenix Mountains, less than a mile from hiking trails up into the hills. Accommodations include a range of deluxe rooms and suites, most with a private balcony or patio, and the majority enjoying views of the mountains, pool area or one of the adjacent golf courses. There are five food & beverage outlets on-site, the signature restaurant being Wright's at the Biltmore. The indoor/outdoor function space is possibly the best in the state, with three historic ballrooms, many smaller rooms and a variety of laws and patios overlooking tropical gardens within sight of the mountains.

The Camby came under Marriott management in 2015, part of the Autograph Collection of prestigious, luxurious properties. The design and decor are distinctive, a mix of modern and traditional, and the hotel provides full service facilities accompanied by first class customer service. The 11 floor building is located at the busy intersection of Camelback Road with 24th Street, adjacent to Biltmore Fashion Park and within walking distance of other stores at the Camelback Colonnade, beside the 51 Freeway. The main restaurant, Artizen, serves American-style cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner; also on-site are the Bees Knees cocktail bar and Revelry rooftop bar, both also serving lunch and dinner. Eleven meeting rooms (20,000 sq ft) can cater for events of up to 650 people.

Renaissance Phoenix Downtown is a stylish addition to the range of full service hotels in the city center. The central location between Adams & Monroe streets puts guests within a short walk of such sites as Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix Civic Plaza, Symphony Hall and AMC Theaters. The 19 floor hotel contains 447 rooms & suites; all beautifully decorated in bold colors, and equipped with upscale furnishings. The on-site restaurant (Marston's Cafe) is open all day, while lunch & dinner are also available from the Icon Lounge. Meetings facilities are amongst the best in the city, with 20 rooms totaling over 60,000 sq ft. The Metro light railway runs past the hotel; nearest stop is Washington/Central, one block south.

Right in the middle of downtown Phoenix, by the junction of Van Buren Street and Central Avenue, the Westin is an upscale, full service, pet friendly hotel, occupying eight floors of the 26 storey Freeport-McMoRan Center. The Central and Van Buren stop on the Valley METRO is right outside, enabling quick travel across the neighborhood. Guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, and far reaching views over the city; accommodations include a selection of one bedroom suites and corner suites. The Sheraton Grand rises 31 floors above downtown Phoenix; the tallest hotel in Arizona, and offering the most rooms (1,000). With over 110,000 square feet of event space the hotel is also the most extensive conference venue in the state. The Sheraton has a central location along Van Buren Street, one block from Phoenix Convention Center and half a mile from Talking Stick Resort Arena. Food/beverage outlets are the Link Cafe, open for breakfast & lunch, the rooftop Breeze Bar, and the all-day Paradise Valley Restaurant & Bar on the 4th floor. The hotel also has an outdoor lap pool and a 24 hour fitness center.

The 13 storey, 199 room, European-style AC Hotel opened early 2021, beside the Arizona Center along 5th Street, within a few blocks of many locations in downtown Phoenix, including Symphony Hall and the Convention Center, one block south. The boutique, lifestyle property offers full service amenities, with a lounge/bar, a fireplace lobby, an outdoor patio plus water feature, an upper floor fitness center, 3,400 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space and a convenience store.

AC Hotel Phoenix Biltmore, the third property of this brand in Arizona, opened late summer 2018 in a mostly residential area of the city, though located along Camelback Road, part of a long line of shops, restaurants and other businesses. Nearby natural areas include the scenic desert hills of Phoenix Mountains Preserve, 2 miles north, and Camelback Mountain 2 miles east. The luxurious hotel features European-influenced design and upscale food/beverage choices, with amenities of a restaurant, lounge/bar, fire pit, business center, fitness center, outdoor pool and 5,000 square feet of function space.

A restaurant (open for breakfast, dinner & evening drinks), meeting space, a fitness center, a pool/whirlpool and spacious modern lobby are the principal amenities of Courtyard Phoenix Downtown, which takes up half of a newly constructed, 19 floor, 320-room building at the corner of Madison Street and Central Avenue, shared with the extended stay Residence Inn. This location is right in the city center, adjacent to various county buildings, and a short walk from numerous shops, restaurants and bars. The international airport is 4 miles west.

The most central of over ten Residence Inn hotels in the Phoenix area opened early summer 2017, situated along Central Avenue in the middle of downtown, 2 blocks from the nearest light rail station (1st Avenue & Jefferson). The hotel occupies half of a 19 story building, shared with another Marriott property, the Courtyard. Wi-fi, grocery delivery service, hot breakfast and evening receptions (Mon-Wed) are complimentary. Guests have a choice of studio, one bedroom and two bedroom suites, all featuring a fully equipped kitchen. Dinner and evening drinks are provided by the Bistro restaurant/bar.

Open late summer 2019, the Staybridge Suites is an upscale, extended stay/all-suite property with a prominent location at the Thomas Road exit of Hwy 51 (Piestewa Freeway), behind a small shopping center. A free shuttle is operated to Sky Harbor Airport, 4 miles due south, while other complimentary amenities are wi-fi, daily hot breakfast and weekday evening receptions. Bbq grills in the garden provide an alternative to in-room cooking. The hotel is half a mile from Phoenix Children's Hospital and 3 miles from Biltmore Fashion Park.

A few blocks north of downtown Phoenix near Central Avenue, Embassy Suites is a full service property of 226 two room suites, arranged around an 11 story atrium lobby, attractively landscaped with palm trees, fountains and ponds, plus plenty of comfortable seating. Also in the lobby, The Salt River Tavern restaurant is open all day for breakfast, lunch & dinner, while drinks and evening snacks are available at the adjacent lounge bar. The hotel operates a complimentary shuttle to places within a 2 mile radius, including Phoenix Convention Center, Arizona State University, Phoenix Symphony Hall and the Comercia Theatre, and it provides all the expected facilities for business, leisure and meetings. Full breakfast and evening receptions are complimentary.

In the heart of the upscale Biltmore district along Camelback Road, the Embassy Suites is a prestigious, full service, all suite hotel with a distinctive and elegant design - a large, tree-lined, semi-circular building entered via a floor-to-ceiling atrium lobby, just across the street from the Biltmore Fashion Center. All the suites have two bedrooms, separate living areas and a kitchenette. There are many restaurants close by and one (Omaha Steakhouse) on the premises, serving lunch & dinner; hot breakfast is provided free of charge, as is a nightly evening reception. Leisure amenities are the usual pool, whirlpool and fitness center, and the hotel also offers all necessary services for business & meetings; largest meeting room is 3,696 sq ft. Other places within a mile include Biltmore Golf Course and the Town & Country Shopping Center

In the upscale Biltmore district of north central Phoenix, the Homewood Suites by Hilton caters primarily for extended stay guests with 124 roomy suites, all containing a kitchen complete with microwave, dishwasher and a full size refrigerator. Food for cooking can be purchased from the on-site convenience store or from a nearby supermarket, though both hot breakfast and free evening receptions (Mon to Thu) are provided free of charge by the hotel. The Homewood Suites is located along Highland Avenue, opposite the Town and Country Shopping Center so within walking distance of many restaurants, stores and entertainment outlets. Nearby businesses include AT&T, IBM and Bank of America.

All the one or two bed accommodations at Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Midtown feature free wi-fi, a large work desk, a refrigerator and a microwave - part of a popular, well established, full service hotel just off Central Avenue in the middle of Phoenix's art and financial district (9 miles from the international airport). Many of the rooms have views over the central courtyard with tropical pool complex; other leisure amenities are a fitness room and sports court. The on site restaurant/bar (Great American Grill) is open all day, plus room service, and the hotel provides all the expected facilities for business and meetings. In summer 2025 the property will rebrand as DoubleTree by Hilton Phoenix Midtown.

Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix occupies the art deco Professional Building, a 171 foot tall property constructed in 1932 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel has a very central location, within a few blocks of Phoenix Convention Center, Arizona State University, the Orpheum Theatre and Talking Stick Resort Arena. Many restaurants are located along Central Avenue, just to the west, and there is one dining outlet on-site, open all day (room service available). Other features of the 170 room/suite hotel are a lobby bar, 24 hour convenience store and meeting space for up to 200 guests. The nearest light rail station (Valley Metro) is one block west.

At the corner of Polk Street and Central Avenue, the Hampton Inn is a large, 11 storey, 220 room property within three blocks of such locations as the Phoenix Convention Center, Arizona State University, Symphony Hall and the Arizona Center. All accommodations are equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker and 50 inch TV, while the suites additionally feature a sofa bed, microwave and sink. Free hotel breakfast is prepared each morning, also available in a take-out version. Although located in a generally busy area, along Central Avenue near the Thomas Road junction, Hampton Inn Phoenix Midtown has a quiet setting away from both main streets, bordered by St Joseph's Hospital to the west and Park Central Mall to the north. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance; other attractions in the vicinity include Phoenix Country Club, Steele Indian School Park and Enchanted Island Amusement Park. The 99 room hotel provides all the usual facilities, principally free hot breakfast, an outdoor pool, meeting space and a business center. The nearest station on the light rail system is 0.2 miles away.

The Hampton Inn is part of a commercial area along Camelback Road, including Biltmore Fashion Park and Camelback Colonnade, close to Arizona Biltmore Golf Club; a busy, developed neighborhood, but just a few miles from the desert scenery of Phoenix Mountains Preserve. The well established hotel has 120 guest rooms and 2,634 sq ft of meeting space, enough for events of up to 85 people. Open late summer 2024, the Home2 Suites is part of a dual-branded Hilton project, also including the Tru hotel, on the site of the disused Park Central shopping center - along Central Avenue in the Midtown district, 8 miles north of Phoenix city center. Phoenix Country Club is one mile east, and there are various restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Highlights include a rooftop swimming pool and free hot breakfast.

Open late 2023, Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix, a six floor, all-suite property, has a fine, central location along Jackson Street in the downtown area, directly opposite the Footprint Center, also with a few blocks of the Convention Center, Chase Field and various state buildings. All accommodations contain a full kitchen. Daily hot breakfast is complimentary. The hotel has fitness & business centers, and a bar in the lobby. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, to the north, along Washington Street.

The Moxy hotel in downtown Phoenix occupies floors one to nine of the historic Luhrs Building, which was constructed in 1924 by businessman George Luhrs, and said, at the time, to be the largest building between Los Angeles and El Paso. The hotel is situated at the intersection of Central Avenue and Jefferson Street, one block from the Footprint Center and the Monarch Theater. The lower floor is shared with the Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour, a famous local bar. Rooms feature separate living/sleeping/working areas, plus a microwave, refrigerator and extra sofa bed. The new-looking, 6 floor hotel also offers a 24 hour convenience store, business/meetings facilities, fitness center, outdoor pool and whirlpool. Free hot breakfast buffet is served each morning. A free shuttle operates to the airport and other places within the downtown area.

Upscale amenities of Cambria Phoenix include a full service restaurant, extensive event space and a rooftop pool & bar. The 127 room, seven story hotel has a north-central location in downtown Phoenix along 3rd Street, close to the Roosevelt Row Arts District and 0.7 miles north of the Phoenix Convention Center. Guest accommodations feature spa-style bathrooms, luxurious bedding, a refrigerator and work desk. Wi-fi is complimentary. There are plenty of other restaurants within walking distance.

Holiday Inn Express Phoenix, a midrise property, is located 2.5 miles north of downtown Phoenix, just off Central Avenue - close to the Park Central Mall and one mile from Phoenix Country Club. It offers a 24 hour fitness center, outdoor pool, hot tub, and facilities for meetings & business. Accommodations include a few suites with separate living space and a whirlpool bath. Hot breakfast is complimentary.

Less than a mile west of downtown Phoenix, the 119 room/suite Holiday Inn Express is situated along Van Buren Street opposite University Park and 0.8 miles from the State Capitol. Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is 5 miles east. Right at the southern end of Grand Avenue, the Egyptian Motor Hotel is a retro-style property evoking memories of mid 20th century travel. The 49 room property, a member of Best Western's Signature Collection of boutique hotels, features a splash pool, a 250-capacity outdoor entertainment venue and an onsite restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. The opened summer 2022, one of relatively few accommodation choices in this part of the city, on the west edge of downtown.

The Best Western hotel in downtown Phoenix occupies one block in the town center, between 5th and 6th streets. It is adjacent to the Arizona Center shopping/dining/entertainment complex, and within walking distance of many other sites including the Civic Plaza, Symphony Hall, US Airways Center and the Arizona Science Center. The main facilities are free hot breakfast, a convenience store, sports court, outdoor pool, whirlpool, guest laundry and a business center. Suites feature a separate living area with sofa bed.

The well regarded Fairfield Inn by Marriott hotel in north central Phoenix provides guests with a good range of facilities at an affordable price, together with high class customer service. The 107 room/suite property is part of a long line of shops and businesses along Central Ave, 1.4 miles from I-10 (7th St exit), and 6 miles from the international airport (complimentary shuttle available). Internet access and continental breakfast are also free, while the other amenities are an outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, business center and meeting space. There are several 24 hour restaurants close by.
