Parachute is a tiny town in west Colorado, providing basic visitor services to cross-state travelers along interstate 70 (access is from exit 75), as well as to the local oil drilling industry. The main place to stay is the 62 room Holiday Inn Express, a relatively new hotel with a scenic location close to the banks of the Colorado River, 0.2 miles from the interstate so the rooms give a quiet night's sleep, as well as having nice views over the surrounding wooded hills. The one attraction in Parachute is the Battlement Mesa Golf Club, half a mile east. The hotel has a reputation for cleanliness good customer service; it serves free hot breakfast and has the usual amenities of a fitness center, pool (indoor), hot tub & guest laundry.

Candlewood Suites is another new IHG hotel in Parachute, providing affordable, all suite accommodation in 75 studio or one bed suites that all contain a full kitchen, executive desk and LCD TV. The property is built right next to the Holiday Inn Express on the banks of the Colorado River, 0.3 miles from exit 75 of interstate 70 - about half way between Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs. Facilities include a convenience store, guest laundry, free internet access, free guest laundry, fitness center, and bbq grills in the garden. The hotel opened June 2009.
