Silt is one of several small towns along I-70 in west Colorado that provide cheaper accommodation than places further east towards the center of the Rocky Mountains, while not being too far away to visit there on a day trip. The beautiful new Holiday Inn Express Silt opened 2008 right on the banks of the Colorado River, near exit 97 of the interstate - 7 miles east of the slightly larger town of Rifle, and 20 miles from Glenwood Springs. The hotel has 80 nicely decorated rooms & suites, a pool, hot tub & fitness center, guest laundry, business center and a small meeting room. Free continental breakfast is served each morning; for lunch or dinner there are a couple of restaurants on Main Street in Silt, just the other side of the interstate. The most popular natural attraction in the area is Rifle Falls State Park
, 15 miles north.
