Grand Canyon National Park > South Rim > Hiking > Tanner Trail > QTVR Panorama

The view half way along the Tanner Trail from a promontory overlooking the Colorado River, still 2,800 feet below, as it flows from the north, over the Tanner Canyon Rapids then begins its gradual turn to the west. To the east are the massive, straight red cliffs known as the Palisades of the Desert, which form one side of Tanner Canyon. The watchtower of Desert View is just about visible to the south, on top of the canyon rim, while the panorama is completed by Cardenas Butte in the foreground and, to the west, the distant peaks of Vishnu Temple and Cape Royal.
