New for 2009, the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in south Corpus Christi has an easily reached location along Highway 358 (South Padre Island Drive), close to many shops and restaurants. All 88 rooms and the public areas are very clean and well presented, and the hotel has already established a reputation for good customer service. Features include free internet access, a microwave/refrigerator in each room, an indoor pool, fitness center, business center, meeting space and convenience store. Free continental breakfast is served.

June 2009 saw the opening of a new all-suite/extended stay hotel in Corpus Christi - the Staybridge Suites offers 84 well-equipped suites all featuring a full kitchen, part of a four storey building on a quiet side street just off the southern Hwy 358 frontage road, 8 miles east of the international airport and 1.5 miles from the La Palmera/Sunrise shopping malls. A fitness center, hot tub, outdoor pool, sports court and bbq grills are the main leisure facilities. Breakfast and an evening reception are provided free, and guests can purchase snacks & drinks at the 24 hour convenience store.

Candlewood Suites South Padre Island Drive is a relatively new Corpus Christi hotel, open 2007, and it provides affordable, extra-spacious lodging in 74 rooms & suites, all with a full kitchen. The hotel has a south central location at 5014 Crosstown Expressway (TX 286), just northeast of the intersection with TX 358, S Padre Island Drive. This is mostly a residential area but with many shops and businesses nearby along adjacent Ayers St. The hotel has a 24 hour business center, a free movie library, a convenience store, free guest laundry, a pool and fitness center.

Open February 2008, the new Courtyard Corpus Christi at 5133 Flynn Parkway is a handsome, three floor property situated towards the south side of the city, part of a long line of hotels, shops and restaurants either side of Highway 358, the main road to Padre Island and the Gulf Coast. Highlights of the 105 room Courtyard are a cafe serving freshly cooked or buffet breakfast, a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, fitness room, a business center and meeting space.

Catering more to long stay travelers, the Residence Inn by Marriott has 66 spacious suites featuring luxury bedding in the sleeping area, and a fully equipped kitchen containing a microwave, stove, dishwasher & refrigerator. Food items can be purchased in the hotel's 24 hour convenience store or from a supermarket just down the street; also nearby are various other shops and restaurants. The Residence Inn provides free hot continental breakfast plus a free evening reception on weekday evenings, when beer, wine and a light dinner are served. Leisure facilities are an indoor pool, hot tub and fitness room.

At 6301 S Padre Island Drive, Best Western Paradise Inn is another of the many hotels along the main road through Corpus Christi towards North Padre Island; roughly half way (8 miles) between the island and the city center. Closer attractions within a mile include the Sunrise Mall, La Palmera Mall, Oso Beach Golf Course and Candlewood Park. The hotel sits on the south side of the highway in a residential area, and offers complimentary breakfast, outdoor pool, hot tub and guest laundry.

Towards the southeast edge of Corpus Christi, TX, the Fairfield Inn at 5217 Blanche Moore Dr is located in the middle of one of the main shopping areas in town, alongside Highway 358 - there are various restaurants and large stores adjacent, while on the far side of the main road are the Sunrise & La Palmera Malls. Within the 3 floor hotel are 56 small to medium sized rooms, some with microwave & refrigerator; the other main amenities are free continental breakfast, a heated outdoor pool, business center and meeting space.

The beautiful new Comfort Suites Corpus Christi opened spring 2008 at 7814 South Padre Island Dr - on the far east side of town just a short walk from the shores of Oso Bay and 8 miles from North Padre Island. Although near the end of the long line of shops, restaurants and hotels on the busy highway, the hotel is about 200 feet from the road and its 55 modern well equipped rooms offer a quiet night's sleep. Free full breakfast, an outdoor pool, hot tub, exercise room and convenience store are the main facilities.

One of many hotels along S Padre Island Drive (Highway 358), 5 miles south of downtown Corpus Christi, the Days Inn & Suites is a budget-priced property but still provides nice, clean accommodation in the care of friendly staff. The hotel provides 68 large rooms, all containing a microwave, refrigerator, sofa bed and a coffee maker. Free continental breakfast is served, and the inn has the other main amenities of a pool, hot tub, exercise room, meeting space and business center.
