Sunset Valley is a southwestern suburb of Austin, a few miles from the start of the Texas Hill Country; one of the closest natural attractions is Pedernales Falls State Park, 40 miles west. The welcoming, reasonably-priced property is close to many other hotels and restaurants, and is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of I-35 and Hwy 71/290, on the south side of Austin about 6 miles from the city center.

The full service Marriott Austin South receives favorable reviews for its accommodating staff, elegant decor, comfortable rooms and the good food served by the on-site restaurant/bar (Limestone Kitchen). Although relatively far (6 miles) from Austin Airport, a complimentary shuttle is provided, and the city center is an easy 5 mile drive away via I-35 which runs right past - access is from the Ben White Blvd exit. The Marriott is part of a line of hotels on the east side of the interstate, on the edge of a business park but within walking distance of several other restaurants. The many facilities include an indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, concierge floor, room service, gift shop and nearly 10,000 sq ft of meeting space.

Courtyard Austin South is one of four adjacent Marriott hotels along the interstate 35 frontage road (between exits 230 and 230A) towards the southwest side of town - 4 miles from the center and 5 miles from Austin International Airport. The inn offers 110 east or west facing rooms & suites, on 4 floors, in a building set back a little from the main road and surrounded by plenty of free parking. Breakfast (not complimentary) is served at the hotel's Courtyard Cafe, with other meals available from several restaurants a short distance to the north. The inn has a pool, hot tub and fitness center.

Along the eastern I-35 frontage road on the south side of the city, the Residence Inn by Marriott is the smallest of several hotels of this brand in Austin, with 66 suites, but still offers the usual combination of value, good facilities and excellent customer service. All accommodation includes a full kitchen (microwave, refrigerator/icemaker, stove, dishwasher), and separate areas for living, sleeping and working. The southernmost of Marriott's three Fairfield Inn hotels in Austin is located at 4525 I-35 - along the eastern frontage road, between the SpringHill Suites and Courtyard properties. The surroundings are a mixture of offices and other businesses but with a fair selection of restaurants around the highway intersection. The international airport is 5 miles east and park/fly room packages are available that include free airport transportation and free long term parking. The main facilities at the hotel are free hot continental breakfast, a gift shop, indoor pool and whirlpool.

Best Western Austin South (formerly the Seville Plaza Inn) is one of a large group of hotels around the major I-35/US 290/TX 71 intersection, 3 miles south of downtown Austin and 5 miles from the international airport. The property has 95 rooms (on 4 floors), some equipped with refrigerator & microwave, and those on the south side overlooking the hotel's tree-lined outdoor pool and gardens. Also on-site are two dining outlets (Subway and a Chinese restaurant), guest laundry, an exercise room, business center and meetings facilities. Free full breakfast is provided.

The upscale Clarion Inn & Suites is situated at the northwest corner of I-35 exit 232A (Oltorf St), along the frontage road - in a busy, commercial district two miles south of Austin city center. Within a mile are Riverside Golf Course, St Edwards University, Lady Bird Lake and Stacy Park. The hotel has a restaurant, newsstand, fitness center and guest laundry; all rooms are equipped with a microwave & refrigerator, and half look inwards over a landscaped courtyard garden, setting for the outdoor pool, wading pool and hot tub. The adjacent conference center contains over 7,000 sq ft of meetings space.

Comfort Suites Austin South is part of the group of hotels facing I-35 just south of the 71 Freeway intersection, 5 miles from the city center. The clean-looking, blue-roofed building contains 50 spacious rooms, equipped with microwave, refrigerator and sofa bed; some have a hot tub bath. The staff are particularly friendly, and can help with local restaurant choices - there are many dining places nearby. Leisure facilities are the usual heated pool (indoor), hot tub and fitness center.

The all suite Suburban Extended Stay hotel caters for long stay travelers to south Austin, each oversized room including a kitchenette equipped with microwave & refrigerator. The property is situated on the east side of I-35, 3 miles south of downtown Austin, in a tree-lined neighborhood of houses and several other hotels. There are four restaurants nearby, Town Lake is a mile north and St Edwards University is on the opposite side of the interstate. Other facilities are limited to guest laundry and free internet access, but the place charges low rates, and is generally clean & quiet.
