Forty six miles south of Reno,
Minden is a small place beside the Carson River, close to the edge of the Sierra Nevada and the
Toiyabe National Forest; Hwy 207 climbs over a ridge at Daggett Pass and reaches the east shore of
Lake Tahoe, just 17 miles from town. US 395 is the main route through Minden, heading south to Topaz Lake and Mono Lake, and the built up area extends about 5 miles along the highway, incorporating the adjacent community of
Gardnerville.
Attractions within a few miles of Minden include Carson Valley Museum, Lahontan National Fish Hatchery,
Mormon Station State Historic Park and Genoa Courthouse Museum.
