For a suitably high price, the full service Lodge at Sonoma provides guests with every conceivable facility and top class customer service - the hotel has 182 rooms & suites, distributed over a number of separate blocks surrounded by walkways and landscaped gardens, part of a spacious site also including a large outdoor pool, three dining outlets, 11,000 sq ft of meeting/event space (indoors & outdoors), and the Raindance Spa which offers a dozen different treatments. The large, comfortable rooms feature decor and furnishings inspired by the surrounding California wine country, and all feature a refrigerator, pull-out sofa, fireplace, luxurious bedding, and either a patio or balcony. The resort is situated on the south side of Sonoma along highway 12 - 13 miles from the larger town of Napa.

Sonoma Valley wine county may be world famous but the town of Sonoma is quite small and has a limited choice of accommodation. The most central hotel is the Sonoma Valley Inn, opposite a shopping center and within easy walking distance of Sonoma's historic central square. The 80 comfortable rooms at the inn enclose a private courtyard with gardens, mature trees and an outdoor pool - a nice place to sit and relax. Other facilities are free breakfast, an exercise room, hot tub, steam room, free parking and guest laundry.
