Hotel Nia, Autograph Collection
200 Independence Drive, Menlo Park, CA 94025
The Hotel Nia is part of the Menlo Gateway Project, a varied development along the north side of US 101 at the Marsh Road intersection - a luxurious, full service property of 11 storys and 250 rooms including a selection of suites, the largest, the top floor presidential suite, accommodating up to 30 people. The exterior is largely composed of glass; rooms have 9 foot, floor-to ceiling windows, accounting for the choice of name, nia being a gaelic word meaning bright light. Behind the accommodation tower is a secluded courtyard with lawns, a pool, fire pits and an outdoor/indoor bar. The property includes 20,000 square feet of function space, a lounge/bar and the Mediterranean-style Porta Blu restaurant. Facebook is amongst the many businesses in the area - the world headquarters is 1.5 miles east.

Best Western Plus Riviera
15 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, CA 94025-5232
Half way between the centers of Palo Alto and Menlo Park, Best Western Riviera is a small (37 room) motel-style property with a pretty, tree-lined setting - next to a wooded creek at the edge of a residential district but also adjacent to the Sanford Shopping Center, and a mile from the edge of the campus of Sanford University. Rooms are clean, recently renovated and relatively quiet, though with occasional traffic noise from the main road running past (El Camino Real). There are plenty of nearby restaurants - closest is in another hotel on the far side of the street. For a small inn the Best Western Riviera has a good range of facilities, including free continental breakfast, a heated outdoor pool, steam room, spa, exercise room, free parking and guest laundry.
