Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument > The East > Hole-in-the-Rock Road > QTVR Panorama

A panorama taken from beside the Hole-in-the-Rock road at mile 49.5, just before it drops down towards the upper end of Davis Gulch. A great expanse of Navajo sandstone domes stretches away to the eastern horizon, hiding the Escalante River which flows through a deep canyon and meets Lake Powell 6 miles away. The west is dominated by Fiftymile Point, a 1,300 foot high promontory at the edge of Fiftymile Bench. Navajo Mountain is just visible to the south, across the lake near the border with Arizona.
