Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument > The East > Hole-in-the-Rock Road > QTVR Panorama A panorama taken from beside the Hole-in-the-Rock road at mile 49.5, just before it drops down towards the upper end of Davis Gulch. A great expanse of Navajo sandstone domes stretches away to the eastern horizon, hiding the Escalante River which flows through a deep canyon and meets Lake Powell 6 miles away. The west is dominated by Fiftymile Point, a 1,300 foot high promontory at the edge of Fiftymile Bench. Navajo Mountain is just visible to the south, across the lake near the border with Arizona. To navigate in a panorama, use the mouse to click and drag the picture left or right, or the keyboard arrow keys. Press the Shift key to zoom in or the Control key to zoom out. |
