South San Francisco Hotels

At 275 S Airport Blvd, the Holiday Inn hotel lies 3.2 miles by road north of San Francisco International Airport, 10 miles from the downtown area and right opposite the South San Francisco Conference Center. The inn is a mid range, full service hotel that has all day dining available at Houlihan's Restaurant & Bar, just off the elegant, spacious lobby. Accommodation comprises 5 floors and 224 rooms, each with a microwave & refrigerator. Besides the conference center, the Holiday Inn has 9 of its own meeting rooms (5,759 sq ft of space), together with amenities of a fitness center, gift shop, business center, and complimentary airport shuttle.

Three miles north of the international airport in the town of South San Francisco, Best Western Grosvenor Airport Hotel is a fairly standard short stay hotel with the main amenities of free full breakfast, a heated outdoor pool and a free airport shuttle service, plus a few extras like an onsite restaurant (open for breakfast & dinner), and 4,100 sq ft of meeting space. The 206 rooms are on 9 floors, and overlook a generally industrial neighborhood along S Airport Blvd, a little way northeast of the junction of US 101 with I-380.

The Holiday Inn Express San Francisco-Airport North is another of the hotels along a short section of Airport Boulevard, 3 miles from the international airport and close to Highway 101. The hotel receives good reviews for its efficient staff, the quiet, clean rooms, and the free continental breakfast. Complimentary shuttle (shared with other hotels) is operated to the airport and the nearby BART station. The 89 rooms are on 4 floors, and some have expansive views over the surrounding industrial area towards the airport and San Francisco Bay, or northwards to the wooded San Bruno Hills. Leisure amenities are a whirlpool and fitness room.

Recently renovated Courtyard San Francisco Airport enjoys a privileged position right on the waterfront at the north edge of town, beneath San Bruno Mountain which separates South San Francisco from the main city a few miles further north. Half the 198 rooms & suites have uninterrupted views out over San Francisco Bay; the others face west towards the hills and US 101, which runs right past the hotel. The airport lies 5 miles south, reached by free shuttle. Full service amenities at the Courtyard are a cafe serving breakfast & dinner, an elegant two-floor waterfront lounge (open weekdays only), a fitness center, hot tub, indoor pool, and 4 meeting rooms.

Right next to the Courtyard (at 1350 Veterans Blvd), the Residence Inn by Marriott San Francisco Airport has a similarly relaxing location and provides the same high standard of accommodation. The 4 storey inn caters for extended stay travelers in 152 suites featuring a full kitchen, extra pull-out sofa bed, luxury bedding and a large work desk. For recreation guests have a choice of an outdoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room and the adjacent Bay Trail - a walking/jogging path along the waterfront. One block south of the Best Western, the Quality Inn & Suites serves travelers using the international airport as well as those visiting San Francisco, just 10 miles north along Highway 101. The hotel is a bright, compact, 3 floor building of 45 spacious, well maintained rooms all of which contain a microwave, refrigerator and other modern fittings. The main road (S Airport Blvd) has a few restaurants though most of the surrounding area has no facilities; the nearest main shopping/dining area is the Shops at Tanforan, 2 miles west, and which is also the site of the nearest BART station.

Low rates and a good location are the two main attributes of Comfort Suites San Francisco Airport, quite an old hotel just off US 101 - close to the center of South San Francisco and a 4 mile drive from the international airport. There are 168 rooms available, in two blocks either side of a central garden with large hot tub; all rooms have a microwave, refrigerator and extra sofa bed. Complimentary items comprise parking, airport shuttle, internet access and continental breakfast. The surroundings are rather industrial but there are plenty of restaurants nearby along Airport Blvd, on the far side of US 101.
