Immediately south of the Holiday Inn Express at 717 S Highway 101 stands the other main hotel in Solana Beach, the Courtyard by Marriott. This is an older building but clean and well maintained, offering 115 rooms on 2 floors. Central feature is the palm tree-lined garden, containing an outdoor heated pool & hot tub; half the rooms look inwards over the pool area while the rest have views over the surrounding residences and a few can see the Pacific Ocean, one block to the west. The on site Pavillion cafe is open for breakfast only but for other meals there are two restaurants adjacent.

Private dwellings line all of the oceanfront in Solana Beach, CA, but the Holiday Inn Express hotel is situated on the next road inland (Highway 101), so about a 5 minute walk from the beach; also within walking distance are the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Race Track. Downtown San Diego is 20 miles away. The hotel has 64 rooms & 16 suites, facing north or south, some having sea views and all equipped with a microwave and a refrigerator. Guests can relax in the outdoor pool, whirlpool or fitness center, and take advantage of the free continental breakfast. For lunch and dinner there are several restaurants within one block, and more in the center of Solana Beach a little way to the north.
