South San Francisco Hotels

The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel lies 3.2 miles by road north of San Francisco International Airport along Airport Boulevard, ten miles from the downtown area and right opposite the South San Francisco Conference Center. The inn is a well managed, full service hotel that has all day dining available at South City Bar & Grill, just off the elegant, spacious lobby. Accommodation comprises five floors and 224 rooms, each with a microwave & refrigerator, and including a selection of suites. Besides the conference center, the DoubleTree has nine of its own meeting rooms (5,759 sq ft of space), together with amenities of a fitness center, gift shop, business center, and complimentary airport shuttle.

Marriott's AC Hotel has a prime location in South San Francisco overlooking the west end of Oyster Point Channel; half the 185 guest rooms & suites enjoy waterfront views while the others look out across the 101 freeway towards San Bruno Mountain. To the south, the neighborhood is mostly business or industrial, though there are several restaurants within walking distance. The hotel has a distinctive, glass-fronted design, with a central lobby area. On-site dining is provided by the AC Kitchen, open for breakfast, dinner & evening drinks, while other amenities include an indoor pool, a well-equipped fitness center and 8,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor function space.

A quiet business park surrounds the Embassy Suites in South San Francisco, though quick travel to area locations is provided by nearby US 101 and the Caltrain system, both just one block west. A free shuttle is provided to the airport (4.2 miles south), while a free trolley serves the city center (9 miles north) on Fridays and Saturdays. The hotel occupies an impressive, glass-walled building of 11 floors and 312 two-room suites, all equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, wet bar and executive desk. The hotel is centered on a beautiful atrium lobby filled with tropical plants, koi pools and other water features. Hot breakfast and evening receptions are provided free of charge. Guests are welcomed at the Hilton Garden Inn by a collection of tropical plants either side of the doorway then enter through a particularly elegant, recently renovated lobby, with fireplace and a variety of comfortable seating. The hotel is part of a business park on the east side of US 101, 4 miles north of the international airport, served by complimentary shuttle. Freshly cooked breakfast is provided at the onsite restaurant, plus dinner and room service in the evenings, while drinks & snacks can be purchased 24 hours a day at the Pavilion Pantry convenience store - including light meals cookable using the in-room microwaves. The 2,200 sq ft of meeting space caters for events of up to 100 people.

2.5 miles north of San Francisco International Airport, the Four Points by Sheraton is a modern, affordable, mid range hotel of 101 guest rooms & suites, easily reached from US 101 which runs past to the rear - access is from the Airport Boulevard exit. There are several restaurants within walking distance, while Bistro 1 2 3, on the premises, is open for daily hot breakfast and weekday evening drinks & light meals. Wi-fi is complimentary, as is airport transportation. A fitness center is the other main amenity.

The Hampton Inn adjoins another Hilton property (the Embassy Suites), on the north side of San Francisco International Airport in a commercial/business area, though a short drive from the natural landscapes of San Bruno Mountain State Park. The best choice of restaurants in the vicinity is half a mile west along Grand Avenue, on the far side of US 101. Complimentary amenities are hot breakfast (take-out version available), wi-fi, airport transportation and (on Friday and Saturday) a shuttle to downtown San Francisco, while the 100 room hotel also has a business center, fitness center and one meeting room.

The Holiday Inn Express San Francisco-Airport North is another of the hotels along a short section of Airport Boulevard, 3 miles from the international airport and close to Highway 101. The hotel receives good reviews for its efficient staff, the quiet, clean rooms, and the free buffet breakfast. Complimentary shuttle (shared with other hotels) is operated to the airport and the nearby BART station. The 89 rooms are on 4 floors, and some have expansive views over the surrounding industrial area towards the airport and San Francisco Bay, or northwards to the wooded San Bruno Hills. Leisure amenities are a whirlpool and fitness room.

Three miles north of the international airport in the town of South San Francisco, Best Western Grosvenor Airport Hotel is a fairly standard short stay hotel with the main amenities of free full breakfast, a heated outdoor pool and a free airport shuttle service, plus a few extras like an onsite restaurant (open for breakfast & dinner), and 4,100 sq ft of meeting space. The 206 rooms are on 9 floors, and overlook a generally industrial neighborhood along Airport Boulevard, a little way northeast of the junction of US 101 with I-380.

Open summer 2022, the Fairfield Inn by Marriott hotel in South San Francisco is part of an extensive business/industrial district on the east side of US 101, near the North Canal, 3 miles north of the international airport, and served by free shuttle. There are several restaurants within walking distance, along the freeway frontage road. Wi-fi and hot breakfast are also complimentary. The five storey hotel contains 92 rooms, including 36 studio suites, equipped with sofa bed.

Low rates and a good location are the two main attributes of Comfort Inn San Francisco Airport, quite an old hotel just off US 101 - close to the center of South San Francisco and a 4 mile drive from the international airport. There are 168 rooms available, in two blocks either side of a central garden with large hot tub; all rooms have a microwave, refrigerator and extra sofa bed. Complimentary items comprise parking, airport shuttle, internet access and continental breakfast. The surroundings are rather industrial but there are plenty of restaurants nearby along Airport Boulevard, on the far side of US 101.

The Days Inn is located close to the north edge of South San Francisco in the Oyster Point area, where the steep slopes of San Bruno Mountain approach almost to the edge of the bay. Guests are a short walk from a trailhead for hikes up the mountain, and also from one restaurant, though the surroundings are mostly residential - other facilities in town are up to a mile south. Guest rooms (all of which contain a microwave and refrigerator) occupy the upper two floors of a three story building, the ground floor being used for parking. The expected three free amenities of airport transportation, internet access and breakfast (continental) are available, together with coin-operated laundry.

The Travelodge is bordered by US 101 to the west, the access road (Airport Boulevard) to the east, a gas station to the north and another hotel to the south. The motel is one of the largest budget-priced properties serving the international airport, with 199 guest rooms, divided amongst several blocks separated by plenty of parking space. The site includes an outdoor pool, restaurant and meeting space. The airport is 3.3 miles south, served by free shuttle, leaving every half hour. Free continental breakfast is prepared each morning.

The Rodeway Inn is part of a group of hotels and other business/corporate premises at the Airport Boulevard intersection with US 101. It has a somewhat noisy location, with main roads at either side, though the property is partly shielded by a line of trees, and adjoins a tidal river just to the north. There are several restaurants within walking distance, closest being a Chinese, on the far side of the street. Guest rooms feature free wi-fi, a microwave and a refrigerator. Coffee and parking are also complimentary.
