A view from a small hill beside the rest area just before interstate 70 cuts through the San Rafael Reef, 18 miles west of the town of Green River - taken early in the morning looking directly into the sun in one direction and without using a tripod. Land to the east is mostly flat - this is the northern part of the San Rafael Desert, while to the west the upturned eroded strata of Wingate sandstone rise abruptly.
