Widforss Trail
PreviousWest side of the Transept, near the start of the Widforss TrailNext

In common with most paths in the developed section of the North Rim, the 5 mile Widforss Trail runs along the rim rather than descending into the canyon; the first half follows the edge of a deep side canyon (The Transept), while the latter section moves through airy pine woods to a peaceful overlook, above the upper end of Haunted Canyon. Even better views are provided by Widforss Point, a promontory half a mile away beyond a steepish ravine, reachable by a somewhat strenuous off-trail continuation.

Length 5 miles (8 km), elevation change 400 feet (122 meters)
