Renaissance Hollywood is many people's choice for the best hotel in all of Los Angeles - it has very comfortable and stylish rooms, high quality design & decor, far reaching views from most of the 20 floors, and a central location by the Highland Ave/Hollywood Blvd junction - the hotel is part of the Highland Center, which also includes the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Celebrities might opt for the 3,500 sq ft rooftop panorama suite, though even the 604 regular rooms are very large, comfortable and well equipped. There are three restaurants on site - a coffee house serving breakfast & lunch, a lobby lounge bar open for dinner, and the trendy Twist restaurant. Amongst the many other facilities are a fully equipped spa, one concierge level, a large rooftop pool, gift shop, fitness center and a massive 60,000 sq ft of meetings space - enough for events of up to 2,785 guests.

More stylish than the average Holiday Inn Express but still offering the usual comfort, value and good customer service, the newly built (2008) Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Hollywood Walk of Fame is built at the edge of the hills along Highland Avenue, just 0.3 miles from Hollywood Blvd and 2.5 miles south of Universal Studios via US 101. The 94 rooms are decorated in bold, vibrant colors and equipped with quality fixtures & fittings including flat screen TVs and a refrigerator/ice maker. Internet access and continental breakfast (including hot items) are free, though not parking. Other features of the hotel are a trendy lobby, a pleasant courtyard swimming pool, a modern fitness center and a 45 person meeting room.

Best Western Hollywood Hills occupies two recently renovated, 4 storey buildings along Franklin Ave just off the 101 Freeway, 2 blocks from the Capitol Records building by the junction of Hollywood and Vine. Many of the north facing rooms have views of the nearby hills and the venerable Hollywood sign; all are clean, well maintained, decorated in a Hollywood movie theme, and contain a refrigerator/microwave. Larger executive rooms are available with added amenities. The on-site restaurant/bar is the well reviewed 101 Coffee Shop, open all day (until 3 am) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parking is free, and the hotel also offers a sheltered outdoor pool, guest laundry and car rental desk.

At the edge of the Hollywood Hills along N Highland Ave, the Best Western Hollywood Plaza Inn is one of the closest hotels to the many attractions along Hollywood Blvd - the famous street is just 0.4 miles south, with Grauman's Chinese Theatre another block west. The hotel features 82 clean, elegant, contemporary rooms, equipped with refrigerator, microwave and plasma TV. Parking is free, though not breakfast; instead this can be purchased from the on site restaurant. The hotel has a secluded outdoor pool and sundeck at the rear, and other amenities of guest laundry and free high speed internet access.

Along Highland Avenue, 0.5 miles north of Hollywood Blvd and the Kodak Theatre, Comfort Inn & Suites Hollywood is a popular, mid range, interior-corridor hotel of 62 rooms and a heated outdoor pool. Accommodation is clean and spacious, if a little dated; each room contains a microwave & refrigerator, and also available are several suites with two rooms and/or a whirlpool bath. The usual free continental breakfast is served each morning, while other meals are available from two adjacent restaurants. The nearest freeway is US 101, half a mile north.

The smaller but more centrally located of two Comfort Inn hotels in Hollywood has a good reputation for its helpful staff, the bright, clean rooms and the fine location - along Sunset Blvd just 0.3 miles south of Hollywood Blvd and the Walk of Fame. All rooms have a microwave, refrigerator, flat screen TV, and new furniture. The standard free continental breakfast is available, and while other amenities are limited to a small outdoor pool and copy/fax services, the reasonable rates and other attributes make the Comfort Inn one of the best places to stay in Hollywood.

Just around the corner from the Comfort Inn (along La Brea Ave) stands another good value Choice Hotels property, the 52 room Quality Inn Hollywood, within a mile of all the main attractions along Hollywood Boulevard. Facilities are fairly typical of the many small motels in this area, comprising free continental breakfast, an outdoor pool & sundeck in a sheltered courtyard at the center, and free parking - partly underground in this case. Rooms are generally small, clean and pleasant, all equipped with microwave and refrigerator.

Guests at Rodeway Inn Hollywood, a small, budget motel along Sunset Blvd, can take advantage of free parking, free wireless internet, an outdoor pool, and rooms (27 of them) that all contain a microwave and refrigerator. The property is just 0.3 miles from Hollywood Blvd, via Highland Ave, which joins just east of the Chinese Theatre and Kodak Theatre. A basic free continental breakfast is served; for other meals there are several restaurants a block or two away along the busy main road.

The 42 room Econo Lodge provides basic, affordable lodging to Hollywood visitors; facilities are just free continental breakfast, guest laundry and an outdoor pool, but the staff are efficient, and the location is good, along Vine St 0.4 miles from Santa Monica Blvd and 1.1 miles south of Hollywood Blvd. Each room has a microwave and refrigerator. Food & drink can be purchased at a supermarket next door, and there are several restaurants a short walk away along the main road, and nearby Melrose Ave.
