Although listed as being in Coalinga, the newly renovated Best Western Big Country Inn is located 12 miles northeast of town, part of a small area of development alongside interstate 5 - access is from exit 334 (Highway 198; Dorris Ave). Close by are several gas stations and restaurants, but otherwise the surroundings are flat farmland, at the edge of California's Central Valley, though Lemoore NAS is 15 miles east. The hotel is quite small, containing just 48 rooms (with microwave/refrigerator) all on the ground floor, and its amenities are limited to an outdoor pool and guest laundry.

Right next to the Best Western and facing interstate 5, the Motel 6 in Coalinga has smallish rooms and limited facilities, but charges low rates. There are several restaurants and gas stations nearby; other facilities can be found in Coalinga town center, 12 miles southeast. The motel has a rectangular layout with a garden and outdoor pool at the center, and plenty of parking around the outside. Inside, amenities comprise free coffee, expanded cable TV, wi-fi and guest laundry.
