Northwest San Antonio Hotels (Six Flags)

La Cantera Resort is one of the largest, best featured and most luxurious hotels in San Antonio. It has a scenic and peaceful setting amidst rolling, oak-covered hills, at the center of an 18 hole golf course, a little way northwest of the I-10/Loop 1604 intersection, near Six Fags Fiesta Texas and The Shops at La Cantera. Features at the resort include five bars and four restaurants, multiple swimming pools, a luxury spa, and over 140,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor event space. Accommodations include suites and villas.

Highlights of the full service DoubleTree hotel are a restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, an outdoor pool with cabanas, a 24 hour convenience store and several meeting rooms. The hotel has a relatively quiet location, along Loop 1604 though set back a little behind some adjacent buildings, within walking distance of the Shops at Canterra, University of Texas is also close by, on the opposite side of the freeway, while Six Flags Fiesta Texas is 3 miles away by road.

The full service Holiday Inn is one of the many lodging choices in northwest San Antonio, built near the western I-10 frontage road 1.5 miles south of Loop 1604 in a quiet, semi-rural area yet close to various shops including Wal-Mart and the Fiesta Trail Mall. The hotel has 122 rooms & suites, an on-site restaurant/bar (Kem's, open for breakfast, lunch, dinner & room service), an outdoor pool, meeting space for up to 150 people, a 24 hour convenience store and a business center. Guest rooms have upscale furnishings and luxury bedding, and are equipped with a microwave & refrigerator; there are also a selection of suites available.

The ninth Courtyard hotel to open in San Antonio is part of the expanding Rim development right at the northwest edge of the city, located along the eastern I-10 frontage road a short distance from the main shopping area. The 5 floor, 124 room hotel is a short drive from both Six Flags Fiesta and the Shops at La Cantera, and so centrally located near a huge choice of retail and leisure attractions. The usual excellent Marriott customer service is complemented by amenities of a restaurant (serving breakfast, lunch & dinner), lounge/bar, outdoor pool & whirlpool, fitness center, business center, convenience store, free wi-fi and 1,200 sq ft of meeting/event space.

The top choice for all-suite/extended stay accommodation at The Rim shopping/entertainment center is Residence Inn San Antonio Northwest, a new hotel along Rim Pass Drive beside I-10 exit 555, and right next to a Marriott sister property (the Courtyard). The 6 floor Residence Inn has 131 suites featuring separate sleeping/living/working areas and a full kitchen, though there are plenty of restaurants nearby to offer an alternative to in-room cooking, and both free full breakfast and free evening receptions (Mon-Wed) are provided by the hotel. For leisure, guests have use of a sports court, outdoor pool, hot tub and fitness center, while other amenities include a free grocery shopping service, a meeting room, business center and free internet access.

The full service Embassy Suites contains 203 guest accommodations and 7,800 square feet of function space, part of a substantial building at the southeast corner of the I-10/Loop 1604 intersection, a short drive from Six Flags Fiesta Texas and 15 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio. The one or two room suites all contain a refrigerator and microwave, plus a separate living area. Complimentary amenities are a three mile radius shuttle, daily hot breakfast, wi-fi and selected drinks. Lunch and dinner are provided by the onsite restaurant, BrickstoneÕs Kitchen & Bar, and there are several other dining outlets within walking distance. A pool, sundeck, bbq grill, fitness center and 24 hour convenience store are some of the other facilities.

The Hilton Garden Inn hotel is positioned near the northwest edge of San Antonio, a short walk from the many shopping, dining and entertainment outlets at The Rim, beside Interstate 10 one mile north of the Loop 1604 intersection. Complimentary amenities include wi-fi and a five mile radius local area shuttle. The hotel has its own restaurant, open for breakfast, dinner and evening drinks, while snacks and sundries can be purchased from the 24 hour convenience store. Over 3,000 square feet of meeting space caters for events of up to 300 people. Leisure facilities are a fitness center, whirlpool and saltwater swimming pool. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is one mile west.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott caters for regular guests and long stay visitors, with 109 suites in two bedroom, one bedroom and studio layouts, all including a full kitchen. The hotel is part of the La Cantera district, built right on the edge of the development, bordering woodland and fields to the rear, within walking distance of a wide range of shopping and dining outlets. Interstate 10 is half a mile away, leading to the center of San Antonio 15 miles south. The hotel also has the expected facilities for recreation, meetings and business.

The SpringHill Suites by Marriott is one of several hotels adjacent to the Rim development on the north edge of San Antonio, with a slightly elevated location along Talavera Ridge, close to the wooded corridor of Leon Creek. Shops and restaurants extend southwards for about a mile, while I-10 runs past a little way west; Six Flags Fiesta is on the far side, 2 miles from the hotel. The four floor property has 128 studio suites and one meeting room, plus other amenities of a business center, fitness center, 24 hour market, outdoor pool and a dining area for the free hot breakfast buffet.

The spacious, loft-style accommodations at Aloft San Antonio Northwest are contained within a 136 room building along UTSA Boulevard on the west side of I-10, a short distance south of the Loop 1604 intersection. There is one restaurant adjacent, and a Costco store opposite, while attractions within a few miles include Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Rim and The Shops at La Cantera. Guest rooms are equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and sofa bed. Dinner & evening drinks are provided by WXYZ Bar, on the premises. The hotel also has a fitness center and pool.

The Holiday Inn Express is one of a pair of IHG hotels at the Bandera Road/Loop 1604 intersection, convenient both for Seaworld (6.5 miles south) and Six Flags Fiesta Texas (8 miles northeast). In the vicinity are several restaurants and shops, with more outlets 1.5 miles away at Bandera Pointe. The four floor property has a quiet location, 450 feet from the freeway, bordering a residential estate to the rear. The outdoor pool and hot tub are also at the back, while inside are an exercise room, business center, 24 hour convenience store and a dining room where the free hot breakfast buffet is served. All guest rooms contain a microwave, coffee maker, work desk and refrigerator.

Amenities at the Tru by Hilton hotel include free hot breakfast, a fitness center, and a 24 hour market, selling snacks & drinks including beer and wine. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available 24 hours a day in the lobby. Some rooms are pet friendly. The hotel opened summer 2022, along Vance Jackson Road on the south side of the RIM, a short walk from the Leon Creek and Marquis trailheads, both part of the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails system.

Candlewood Suites San Antonio NW is situated in a lightly developed residential district along Loop 1604, a quick 6.5 mile drive from Seaworld. The city center is 15 miles southeast. All accommodations are suites, in studio or one bedroom layout, and all have a full kitchen, complete with granite countertops; food for cooking can be purchased from the 24 hour Candlewood Cupboard convenience store. The nearest supermarket is HEB, 3 miles east. Other hotel features are a 24 hour fitness center, an outdoor pool and coin-operated laundry.

One of the northernmost hotels in San Antonio, the Best Western Fiesta Inn offers 60 rooms, an outdoor pool/hot tub and free deluxe continental breakfast, located on the east side of I-10 between exits 557 and 558, close to the outer ring road (TX 1604). This part of town is for the most part rural/residential though there are several other hotels and shops nearby, and a selection of restaurants. A mile northwest are University of Texas at San Antonio, and the La Cantera resort/golf course/shopping center.

On a quiet side road at the edge of undeveloped, wooded land, Spark by Hilton is a 124 room hotel built alongside the 1604 loop road just a few minutes walk from the Shops at La Cantera, and 2 miles from Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Rates are quite low but not at the expense of facilities and cleanliness; amenities include free breakfast, free internet access, an outdoor pool, newsstand, meeting space and a refrigerator/microwave in each guest room.

Along the eastern I-10 frontage road, the Spark by Hilton hotel provides amenities of a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and free coffee/bagel. The budget-priced property is part of the Dominion neighborhood, near the north edge of San Antonio, 20 miles from the city center, close to Camp Bullis, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and The Rim. The hotel has three floors, accessed by interior corridors, and sits amidst partly wooded surroundings.

Days Inn San Antonio Northwest is typical of many small hotels along Interstate 10, offering affordable, exterior corridor lodging with limited amenities, in this case free wi-fi, free breakfast (continental), guest laundry, a small meeting room and an outdoor pool. All rooms have a microwave/refrigerator; a few feature a hot tub bath. Most face north, looking across the parking lot towards several adjacent business premises. The nearest restaurants are 0.7 miles north.

The Super 8 is a good choice for affordable lodging in northwest San Antonio, well connected to nearby locations by I-10 and Loop 1604. Six Flags Fiesta Texas and UTSA are both 3 miles away, and there are numerous shopping and dining outlets a little way south. The motel is of modern construction, with interior corridors, and it offers the usual, basic range of amenities: free continental breakfast (with eight items), free wi-fi, a business center and an outdoor pool, this on the south side, enclosed by trees and bushes.
