Much of the coastline in the central section of Point Reyes National Seashore is similar in appearance; long, narrow beaches of sand or pebbles beneath steeply-sloping, rather dull-colored cliffs. One exception is Sculptured Beach, since here the foot of the cliffs merge with inclined strata, eroded into a range of interesting forms. The beach is reached by a 2 mile walk along the sands starting at the end of Limantour Road, or a 6 mile hike from the park headquarters in Bear Valley.
