The Cedar Mountain Trail, also a rarely-driven 4WD track, leads to and beyond a flat-topped butte of Moenkopi sandstone, 4 miles east of Desert View, but the first 1.7 miles are along or close to the canyon rim, and give good views down towards the Colorado River, and the major tributary of Tanner Canyon. A short, off trail continuation hike further along the rim affords other perspectives, and passes the remains of an old stone shelter.

Length 1.7 miles (2.7 km), elevation change 630 feet (192 meters); to the canyon viewpoints
