Taken on a beautiful, sunny, late summers day, this panorama shows the stark granite landscape at the end of the 2.7 mile Castle Dome Trail in Castle Crags State Park, north California. The rocks rise up near-vertically in most directions; to the north is the distinctive peak of Mt Shasta, 17 miles away.
