Although regarded by some as a ghost town, Tombstone is home to well over a thousand residents, yet it retains its original, historic center and is only slightly spoilt by the trappings of modern day tourism. Most of the famous locations - OK Corral, Bird Cage Theater, Tombstone Courthouse - are situated along Allen Street, one block south of the main road (Hwy 80), and all sites are within easy walking distance, as far as Boothill Cemetery on the north edge of the city. The highway links Tombstone with Bisbee to the south, another historic old West mining settlement; other routes are Hwy 82 to Whetstone, Charleston Road to Sierra Vista and Hwy 80 to Benson> on I-80.
