Lipan Point overlooks several miles of the Grand Canyon, from Palisades of the Desert in the east, across the Unkar Delta and Escalante Butte towards Hance Rapids in the west, where the Colorado River starts to cut into the ancient Vishnu Schist layer to create the inner canyon gorge. This panorama is taken from a promontory a short distance north of the point, which gives slightly better views than the official overlook.
