Below are listings of the progressive maximum temperatures in the USA from the start of the year - data from USA Today. Almost all are for the Southwest states, though Florida is the hottest place for a while in midwinter. Without exception, Death Valley records the highest single temperature every year.

It is still a little way short of the all time record of 134°F, set 89 years ago almost to the day, on July 10th 1913.
