Crypthanthas are small but pretty wildflower species, producing delicate flowers, usually white, and green leaves which, like the stems, have a dense covering of sharp, whitish bristles. Cryptantha barbigera, is found across most desert areas of the US, from California to Texas, and is typically just a few inches tall. Plants grow in open, rocky or sandy locations, up to 7,000 feet elevation.
