Flowers of the desert woolly star, eriastrum eremicum, are small but pretty; the five lobes are pale purple or pale blue, flecked with darker patches near the base, while the center is yellow. Beneath the flowers is a cluster of pointed, green bracts, partly enclosed by woolly hairs. The range extends from the Mojave Desert across much of Nevada, Arizona and Utah.
