QTVR Panorama from Sand Hill, Point Lobos State Reserve

Point Lobos State Reserve > QTVR Panorama

The best place for a panoramic view over Point Lobos State Reserve and the Pacific Ocean is from the edge of Sand Hill on the west side of the promontory. The distant hills are the north end of the Santa Lucia Range, rising to 1,500 feet, but the rest of the land is much closer, including Headland Meadow, Whalers Knoll, Cypress Grove, Headland Cove, Point Lobos, Devils Cauldron, Sea Lion Rocks, Sea Lion Cove, and the end of the trail from the park road. The scene was photographed after a dull, wet morning just as the clouds began to disperse.
