The only chain hotel in the peaceful, seaside town of Cambria is the Best Western Fireside Inn, part of a line of other motels just west of Highway 1 along a quieter road (Moonstone Beach Drive), and about 200 feet from the Pacific Ocean. The shoreline opposite the hotel is formed of low cliffs; the beach begins a short distance south, extending for half a mile towards Cambria Pines. The main town center of Cambria is 3 miles away along the highway. Many of the 46 rooms (all on the ground floor) have an ocean view - others look out over undulating, partially wooded hills to the east, some of which are within San Simeon State Park, which marks the south end of Big Sur. Hearst Castle lies 9 miles north. Amenities at the Best Western are an outdoor pool, spa & free breakfast; other meals are available at the Moonstone Beach Bar/Grill just next door.
