Alamosa Hotels

Hampton Inn Alamosa was the first Hilton hotel in south central Colorado, built along a side road just off US 160/285 on the west edge of town, near a Wal-Mart superstore and a small selection of other shops, though views in most directions are of farmland and far-away mountains. The clean and modern hotel has 80 microwave/refrigerator-equipped rooms, a fitness center & pool, business center and 50-person meeting room. The free breakfast includes a selection of hot items, and there are several restaurants a short walk away.

On the western approach to Alamosa (US 285/160) the new Holiday Inn Express hotel offers 74 rooms and suites in a peaceful, mostly rural neighborhood, though just across the road from a 24 hour Wal-Mart. All rooms contain a microwave, refrigerator, hair dryer, cable TV and high speed internet, while the hotel also offers an indoor pool, (small) fitness center, whirlpool and free breakfast bar. The town center is 3 miles southeast, and the main attraction in this area, the Great Sand Dunes, is 33 miles away.

Alamosa's Best Western hotel has a west central location, along the main east-west route through town (US 160), a few blocks from the junction with US 285. The Alamosa Inn accommodates guests in 53 rooms in two exterior-corridor blocks, looking out over an open courtyard with a small, tree-lined park at the center. Complimentary deluxe continental breakfast is provided, and there is a restaurant half a block east. The place is fairly old but well maintained; other amenities are an indoor pool, hot tub, and free local shuttle. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is 32 miles to the northeast.

Open March 2014, Fairfield Inn by Marriott Alamosa features a welcoming, brightly decorated lobby, an indoor pool, fitness center and business center, together with complimentary amenities of wi-fi and hot breakfast. The hotel lies on the west edge of town, on a side road just off US 160/285, near a Wal-Mart supercenter and a small selection of restaurants; more choices are found a mile east, near another collection of shops. One other nearby attraction is a six screen movie theater.

The Days Inn is the easternmost chain hotel in Alamosa, and therefore the closest (30 miles) to Great Sand Dunes National Park. The 33 comfortable guest rooms are contained within a clean-looking, interior corridor building on the north side of US 160, surrounded by a large parking lot, with enough space for the biggest trucks. Free continental breakfast is provided, and while there is one restaurant opposite, most dining places are half a mile or more away, towards the center. Also available are free wi-fi, a fitness center and guest-use computer.

Guests at Super 8 Alamosa are within a short walk of a good selection of restaurants and shops, including City Market. The interior corridor inn faces US 160/285 on the west side of town, overlooking open fields to the south; some rooms have views across the plains towards distant mountains. Leisure facilities are an indoor pool and hot tub, while complimentary amenities are wi-fi and continental breakfast.
