Tropicana: One of a quartet of hotels along Las Vegas Boulevard that have been open for over 50 years (Sahara, Riviera and Flamingo are the others), Tropicana is still quite popular despite being surrounded by several much larger and more modern resorts, at the south end of the Strip. The hotel is the closest to Las Vegas International Airport, and east facing rooms have a fine view over the runways and terminal buildings, though double glazing ensures a quiet night's sleep. Rooms on the west side overlook a large enclosed tropical garden containing several spas, waterfalls and pools, including a swim-up bar; for those wanting to escape the sun, the hotel also has one of the few indoor pools along the Strip. The 61,000 sq ft casino is situated at the front of the hotel, by the Las Vegas Blvd-Tropicana Ave intersection, while the other main facilities comprise seven restaurants, several lounges, the Tropicana Spa, a hair salon, 35 specialty shops, the Island Wedding Chapel, a business center and 45,000 sq ft of meetings/event space.

Tropicana is a good choice for traditional Las Vegas entertainment. Running continuously since 1959, the famous Folies Bergere musical is performed nightly in the Tiffany Theater, offering both adult and 'covered' versions. The newest show is Xtreme Magic by Dirk Arthur, featuring comedy, dance, magic, and exotic big cats not seen in Las Vegas since the days of Siegfried & Roy at The Mirage. Also open each night is the Comedy Stop, where stand up comics perform in a nightclub setting.
