Bulger Geyser
Previous PhotoBulger Geyser and adjacent vent ('Bulger's Hole'), near the Firehole RiverNext Photo

Bulger Geyser sits just west of the main trail through the Sawmill Group, sending water 340 feet further west into the Firehole River. The constantly boiling pool is quite small, often not properly visible from the path as water levels can be low, and is surrounded by undulating grey-brown sinter deposits. Eruptions sometimes last for several minutes but most are just a few seconds, shooting water up to ten feet high. Beside the geyser is a recently-opened (2011) cavity known as Bulger's Hole.
