A panorama from the top of Dante's Peak, half a mile north of Dante's View. Death Valley extends northwards, bordered by the Panamint Range to the west and the Black Mountains to the east, of which Dante's Peak is one of the highest summits, at 5,704 feet. Further east, the land slopes down to Greenwater Valley, rises again to the Greenwater Range before, in the distance, the flat expanse of the Amargosa Desert.
