Old Tardy Geyser
Previous PhotoOld Tardy Geyser, sometime after an eruptionNext Photo

Old Tardy Geyser can seem dormant if viewed after an eruption, as the vent is empty, surrounded by a 12 foot band of dry-looking grey/white sinter, lacking any flow-over pools or colorful run-off channels. But the geyser does erupt quite frequently, usually for just a few minutes but sometimes for several hours. The time between eruptions also ranges from hours to minutes, and the maximum water height is around ten feet.
