Cascade Geyser
Previous PhotoRun-off channel from Cascade Geyser, flowing into the Firehole RiverNext Photo

Walking clockwise along the loop path around Old Faithful, the next thermal feature is Cascade Geyser, a relatively small vent on the far (north) bank of the Firehole River, part of the Geyser Hill Group though not properly visible from the trail through that area. The vent is white but the sinter below is colored orange and brown by algae, sustained usually only by a gentle flow of 90°C water down the steep river banks; eruptions are very rare, and unpredictable.
