The view from the summit of Saddleback Butte, the central peak in Saddleback Butte State Park, encompasses many square miles of Antelope Valley and the southern Mojave Desert. Beyond the leafy suburbs of the small town of Lake Los Angeles, the horizon to the south is formed by the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains, while the more distant Tehachapi Mountains are visible to the west. The white salt flats of Rogers Lake can just be seen in the north, merging eastwards with a seemingly endless landscape of small buttes and vast empty desert plains.
