This panorama along the North Grove Trail at
Calaveras Big Trees State Park shows the trunks of two giant sequoia trees that fell during a storm in 1965 and are now destined for several centuries of slow decay. This is stop number 4 along the trail. The surrounding forest has many healthy young sequoia, mixed with several other species of conifer.
