Top State Parks: 3, Big Bend Ranch, Texas

Big Bend Ranch is by far the largest state park in Texas, occupying a large, remote area of desert, canyons and mountains adjoining the Rio Grande, west of the similar Big Bend National Park. There are few facilities apart from trails and rough tracks, but the place has much scope for backcountry exploration. Fall, winter and spring are the preferred visiting seasons, since summer temperatures are extreme.
