Hermit Trail, Grand Canyon
PreviousThe river approaching Hermit Rapids, at the mouth of Hermit CreekNext

The Hermit Trail into the Grand Canyon receives a fair amount of use, especially the first mile, which forms part of the route to Dripping Spring. The next part traverses bushy slopes above the deepening canyon of Hermit Creek then descends towards the Tonto Bench via several sets of switchbacks, separated by more gently sloping parts, and ends at a junction with the Tonto Trail. The continuation route to the river is off-trail, though without any great obstructions, following the briefly enclosed lower section of Hermit Creek, and reaching Colorado at Hermit Rapids - 9 miles from the trailhead, and 4,340 feet below.
